Calculating a School's True Cost

When calculating and comparing school costs, it's important to consider everything that impacts  your child each day. That means:

  • meals and snacks,
  • extracurricular activities and after care,
  • field trips, and
  • books and instructional materials

When you're looking "total cost", be sure to include these expenses in your calculations. Daily meal plans can add up, as can extended care.

Are the costs of books, instruments, and other instructional materials accounted for? Finally, compare the cost of application fees,  registration fees and capital or building fees. Are they one-time or yearly fees?

These items can impact your first year (and often additional years') payment(s) substantially.
