The Early Learning Center (Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten), ages 3 to 5:

• Pre-Kindergarten 1: Students must turn three (3) before September 1 to be eligible, and must be toilet trained.
• Pre-Kindergarten 2: Students must turn four (4) before September 1 to be eligible.
• Kindergarten: Students must turn five (5) before September 1 to be eligible.

The Elementary School: 1st Grade to 5th Grade

The Middle School: 6th Grade to 8th Grade

The High School: 9th Grade to 12th Grade

• Because the IGCSE is a two-year program, we will only admit students to 10^th grade if the incoming student is coming from an IGCSE program and the required courses align.

TASIS Portugal's Admission Committee reviews transcripts based on each school’s practices and policies. 

For children in the elementary school and above, we request the end-of-year report for the previous year, and current school year records (partial year is fine if the school year has not ended or grades have not yet posted).

We ask that each applicant submit recommendations from the following educators:

Early Learning Center Applicants
If available, submit a recommendation from a preschool teacher or daycare provider

Elementary School Applicants
 - Current teacher or
 - Principal

Middle School Applicants
-Principal/Counselor or
-Current Teacher 

High School Applicants
-Current Principal/Counselor or
-Current Teacher

Frequently Asked Questions: 

• It's best to wait until the school year is underway (mid-November) before asking the appropriate person(s) to write recommendations so they will have ample opportunity to get to know your child.
• We do not require or encourage families to send additional recommendations (i.e., piano teachers, athletic coaches). We look forward to learning more about your child’s interests and activities through the application and interview.

If your child has completed any standardized testing (for example, MAP or CTP-4 testing, ISEE, SSAT, TOEFL, etc.), please submit the results using your OpenApply account. We commonly ask a student to sit for achievement testing during the admissions process. Candidates who require English Language Development take the WIDA test to help determine eligibility. 

The highlight of our admission season is getting to know your child and your family through a one-on-one interview. It's an important part of our process and an opportunity for you and your children to learn more about TASIS Portugal and share a little bit about yourselves. 

Prepare their child for success! Prepare them to introduce themselves and bring a book, toy, or memory to share. Watch some of our videos here on the website to get a sense of the school. Our Early Learning Center candidates will have an assessment with a highly-trained member of the ELC team. Using play-based methods, qualified teachers will gather data in key developmental areas to ensure a successful transition to school. 

This is a required step in the application process and applicants are encouraged to schedule an interview promptly, as spaces fill quickly.

If your child has had educational assessments or has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or 504 in place, please submit the results and documentation.

The nonrefundable application and fee of €100 (€150 for ELC applicants) is due upon submission of the application. We encourage you to submit your child's application and fee as early in the admission season as possible, especially if TASIS Portugal is your family's first choice school.
